Bios

letters bio in wood stamp

I'm 40 years old and from the Philippines. We are eight people in our family, four boys and four girls. I'm the fifth eldest. At the age of 19, I met my husband and we fell in love. We were blessed with two children, a boy and a girl.

Before I came to Canada, I worked in Israel for more than 5 years as a caregiver. During my days off, I travelled to historical places like Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and many more. I considered myself blessed. But I also experienced the Israel and Lebanon War. That was a scary moment. I remember when the sirens sounded my employer and I would run to a bomb shelter. My husband tried to convince me to return home, but I said it would pass.

After the war, I decided to apply here in Canada. After a year of waiting, I got my papers. I arrived in December 2010. At first it was not easy even though my job was similar to the one I had in Israel, Everything here for me is new; the culture, traditions and the weather. Little by little, I'm getting use to it. My family and I were reunited last May 2015. We're happy staying here and we're doing our best to contribute whatever we can to help this country by paying the right taxes and following the rules and laws. I believe Canada is a land of opportunities.
