It was my first to visit Barkerville, historic town and park in British Columbia. Barkerville was the main town of the Cariboo Gold Rush and is preserved as an historic town. My husband and I visited there last month, and we stayed at the King House Bed & Restaurant.

I was so amazed at what I saw in Barkerville, because of all the old houses and many actors who were walking around in 18th century clothing, pretending as if they lived back then. I saw a lady wearing an old dress and she was talking to some tourists in one area explaining about the history of Barkerville.

The day we arrived we went to Eldorado Gold panning & Souvenirs, where we paid $20 to pan for gold and we found some flakes of gold. It was fun and exciting because it was my first time gold panning.

After we were done we went to Wake up Jakes Restaurant to have some lunch and I met Arlene, from the Philippines, who was working there as a waitress. We took a 45 minute horse and carriage ride to the court house to see Judge Big Bey, the hanging judge.

Before we left for home we decided to get an authentic photograph from Louis Photograph Gallery, in which we dressed up in period costumes. We had so much fun learning and enjoying the history of Barkerville. One day we will return there again.
