Nowadays with developed computer technology, the distance education has been becoming more widespread and popular in the world. Computers replace books, and people can find all information they need on the internet without leaving their houses. As a consequence, today more and more people prefer to have online classes.

E-learning is a convenient method of studying for people who do not have possibility to attend classes on a campus: disabled persons who desire to gain education or adult working people who would like to obtain a second career, but with a busy life schedule are not able to attend classes, or people who live remotely from cities and do not have possibility to commute every day to a city. Students can choose a time and day more suitable for them for classes and study from all over the world if they travel. Some people are timid and prefer to have one-on-one classes with a teacher. This method of learning would have better results for them because, in these circumstances, shy students feel more relaxed and they are not as stressed as they would be attending classes on a campus.

In spite of obvious excellence of distance education, there are some disadvantages as well. There is limited time which students can spend with their teachers. E-learning is more self-paced and students have to be more self-disciplined, diligent, dutiful and to have intense motivation for distance education. Only in this case will distance education have good results. Some people need traditional study and interaction with other students and a teacher. Students have to have high-speed Internet and computers at home in order to have online classes. Sometimes family members or children may distract students from a process of learning and concentrating on it.

A teacher may have difficulties in delivering a distance education course to a student because a teacher and a student do not interact as they would in a traditional classroom. Teachers have limited time for teaching and they are not able to check all homework submitted by students. Bad internet service may cause complications between a teacher and a student to hear and understand each other properly.

However, in my opinion, distance education is the way of the future. More and more people are being enrolled in online programs. E-learning enables people to obtain education without obstruction and succeed in their professional occupations. Who knows, maybe online learning will be an alternative substitution for traditional education in the future.
