Hello, my name is Lily. I am a newcomer. I have been in Canada for 1 and a half years. Back home I graduated college with a degree for voice specialist. Before I found a job in Canada I started to learn English and I took courses in customer service, CPR and safe food handling. All these things improved my conversation skills so I can keep my customers happy. It also improved my listening and understanding skills. It certainly gave me more confidence and I feel that my communication skills improved greatly. All these things helped me to find a job as a waitress. I like this job because it is very close to my house and it's suitable for me. I feel comfortable in this work environment because people are friendly. The job I do now is different than the job I had back home but I know if I work hard and improve my language skills I can have a much better job. I know if I work hard I can reach where I want to be in my life. All I can say is that I like Canada and I am very happy living here.
