Language Dictionary English Chinese Concept

I have been living in St. John's for nine years. When I first arrived in St. John's, I didn't like living here because I felt like it was a small, rural place. After two years, a friend gave me some advice and it changed my mind. I chose to live here. But, I met a lot of problems in life and work culture related to language communication problems, so I really wanted to learn English. However, I had been working in a Chinese restaurant kitchen every day, and most of the workers were from China. We spoke Chinese every day, so I had little chance to practice speaking English.

When I chose to live here, I started looking for a school to learn English. My friend helped me to contact the New Canadian School in St. John’s. I was working 6 days a week, so I only had a little time to go to school. However, I had the school teacher’s help and guidance, and I always kept learning. But, I forgot everything easily. Then, my old teacher told me that I needed to stop speaking Chinese. I thought that it was a good idea, but this was difficult for me because I worked with Chinese people every day. During that time, I was very lucky because I had my school teacher’s help. They helped me to connect to an online teacher to teach English to me. No matter how busy my work is, I’ll study hard. I thank my school teachers and online teachers.
