Canada

Canada is a wonderful country to live, not only because she has so many beautiful sceneries, but also because she has multi-cultures in the nation. When I talk to my friends and family, I usually tell them how blue the sky here is, how clear the lakes are, and how cute the animals are. With multi-cultures in the nation, Canadians are nice to people from every country. They are open to accept different customs, festivals and foods, which makes Canada feel like home to immigrants.

To me, the best part I enjoy living in Canada is that I am becoming a better person every day. Since the first day arrived in Canada, I have been learning new things and having new experience. I can see my improvements each day. For example, my English is getting better from day to day practicing. Also, working in local companies improves my social skills. In addition, I am getting used to Canadian food and trying to learn to cook them. The most important thing is living in Canada opens my eyes. With different cultures in the community, I learnt about their living habits, foods and languages.

Even though Canada has a short history, she has made great contributions to the world development. One of the contributions I would like to talk about is Canada’s contribution to the Second World War. Between 1939 and 1945, over one million (around 10% of the entire population) Canadian people served full-time in the army, and they played a vital role in the Battle of the Atlantic and the campaigns of western Europe. Canada’s industrial contribution to the victory was considerable. More than half of the war materials were shipped to Britain and Canada also made a financial assistance to Britain amounted to 3 billion. By the end of the War, nearly 44,000 people died. Canada’s efforts to the Second World War strengthened the Canada economy and furthered Canada’s global position .

One of the important holidays in Canada is the Canada day on July 1 each year. Two years ago, my friends and I went to Ottawa to celebrate it. The buses were free on that day, so we took the bus to get to the Parliament Hill. The roads were closed to cars so that people can walk and have fun. We bought some stickers with national flag and attached on our faces and clothes like everyone else did. Then we found a spot in front of the stage to watch the show. We also saw the Prime Minister from far away, but still it was cool because that was our first time to see him. We left before the show was end because we had to drive back to Sudbury. Even though we missed the fireworks on Parliament Hill, we still saw the fireworks in Sudbury when we came back at night. I had a great memory about that trip, and also I am planning to go to Ottawa again next year to celebrate Canada’s 150 years old birthday.

Overall, Canada is a peaceful and beautiful country to live. I can see happy faces from people around me every day and they are satisfied with their life. I am so glad I came to Canada and she has become my second home.
