In January 2019, when we returned to work from our New Year vacations, my husband and I got fired. We worked in the same holding in different companies and the directors decided to fire both for changes in the structure, but I think was to avoid revenge.

At that moment we were selling one of our houses, so we started thinking about what we could do in the future. Our first option was a trip where we could study English and return to our country, but for some reason, and just like that, we started investigating the process of immigration to Canada.

After some inquiries, we found that the best option for us was that one of us had to study in a college for 2 years and the other had to work. We knew that kids could start school there with our status; also we knew that we would have 5 years to get the permanent resident status, between study permits and post-graduate permit.

When we decided on the plan and who was going to study, we started looking for a city, college, and career. In April 2019 we had our plan in place, my husband took the IELTS and applied for college and while we were waiting for the study and work permit, we bought a flight and traveled to see the place where we had decided to live.

In June 2019, my husband and I traveled to Canada for two weeks. We started looking for a house and seeing how the city is. My husband got the study permit while we were in on this trip and for this reason we stayed in Canada and I went back to Chile to start selling all the other stuff of the house.

My husband came back to Chile in August to help us move and in August 27 we took a flight as a family all together to Windsor, our new home and new life!
