Homeland

Eritrea wrinkled flag

Eritrea is a small country located in East Africa and the capital city is Asmera. Eritrea has nine ethnic groups such as the Tigrinya, Tigre, Afar, Hdarb, Blien, Saho, Nara, Kunama, and Rashayda. The two major religions in Eritrea are Christianity and Islam. Each group has their own languages and cultures but our official language is Tigrinya.

The Christian religion has three big holidays. During these holidays everyone prepares to celebrate and the children have a lot of fun because the parents buy them gifts for the holiday. These holidays are celebrated and enjoyed together with Islamic people too. If your neighbor doesn't have money or food, you can help and share with each other.

I was born in the capital city of Eritrea, Asmera. It is a beautiful city with a nice climate. I lived in my country for 17 years. When I was young, I had many memories in my life playing with my friends and classmates.

When I go on vacation, I will go to Massawa. This is my favorite place because it is in the area of the Red Sea which has various kinds of fishes, and you can swim there however you want. I miss eating my homeland food such as the beef stew, shiro, porridge, bread, pasta, chicken stew, and flatbread. It is very peaceful and relaxing to walk during night times in Asmera because it is safe there. You are welcome to vacation in my homeland anytime.
