Homeland

I had a wonderful time when I came back to my homeland in February of this year to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This is a vacation for everybody to relax, to meet, to greet, to wish, to travel and to worship ancestors with members of family, relatives and friends. I had a great trip with my friends through many provinces in the southern part of my country. It is in this area of the countryside where make many supplies to prepare for the Lunar New Year. I had a lot of amazing experiences in places that I had never been before in Vietnam.

In our tradition, Vietnamese people usually eat sticky rice at the parties of the Lunar New Year. However, I’ve never known how to make sticky rice before. It looks simple but it is so difficult to make. I tried to make it this time, and that was a lovely experience. After experiencing how to make the sticky rice, we went to the flower village that supplies flowers for the big cities. In our custom, we usually decorate flowers the inside and outside of our house in the Lunar New Year. You can see flowers and plants everywhere in our city. The decorations symbolize the fresh things and prosperity for the next new year. In the flower village, the flowers and plants were so amazing and beautiful. There were many kinds of flowers and plants there. We learned a lot of ways of how to take care of flowers and plants and how to keep them lasting longer from famers. I was a real famer at that time. After finishing my experience at flower village, we spent the last day of our trip at my cousin family’s and my friend’s houses. They live in the rural area. That was a happy and cozy time. They entertained us with many traditional foods. I felt how hospitable the experience was, and that it could not be bought with money.

I had a lot of experiences and learned more about our customs and traditions during my trip. It a great time with my friends. I‘ ll never forget those moments. This experience helped me love famers more. I hope I will have a wonderful trip like this again in the future.
