Issued Permanent resident card over immigration Canada letter

I would like to start saying that becoming a Canadian citizen is a great opportunity. Since I come from Colombia, every time that we travel somewhere, people think that we may be doing something wrong. I know that sadly we all end up paying for other people's mistakes. But what can we do?

Every day, I thank God for being blessed living in this amazing country. When my husband and I were boyfriend and girlfriend, he told me that he was moving to Canada. To be honest I never pictured my life over here, but I decided to give it a shot. I said, "Why not?" The process wasn't easy because we were apart for a long time, but as I said before, I'm blessed that our process was easier than other people's.

I remember when I received a call from the Canadian Embassy telling me that my visa was ready and I could travel whenever I wanted. It was a huge highlight in my life because it meant starting over in another country. The most important thing was, being so far from all my family, I knew since we got married I had already decided to start my own life.

When I got here, everything was so nice, the people, the city, etc., I just loved it. I think every time that my mother calls, she might feel such a relief to hear that I'm happy.

I can't say that I don't miss my country. Colombia is a beautiful country as well, but if somebody asks me, the peace you can feel living here is hard to find anywhere else.

I'm so happy to have the opportunity to become a Canadian citizen because I know that I'm doing things right to be part of this society.
