Canada and Iran

Iran has a heterogeneous population speaking a variety of languages, among which the two cultures of Turkish and Persian are the major ones. These two cultures have a lot in common such as clothing, traditions, food and customs as they have lived together for years in the history. On the other hand, in Canada, the two cultures of English and French are the major cultures that share the country and history together.

One aspect of the culture is clothing. In Iran, women should cover their bodies with loose clothing and their hair with headscarf, and it is mandatory to wear hijab in public. But, Canadian women are allowed to wear clothes in anyway they like, and there is no force in covering all parts of the body or not to do so. Canada is a country, in which freedom and human rights and women rights are very important, and women are allowed to wear anyhow based on their own willingness, and their cultural and religious backgrounds.

In Iran, majority of the citizens are Muslim and they follow Islamic rules, so they cannot drink alcohol, while in Canada adults are allowed to drink alcohol as the religion is of no consequence in the choice of drinking. Also, Canada is a secular country. In fact, the Canadian government is strictly separated from religion, so people have their own rights to follow their beliefs, and religious practices. This gives freedom of choice to all Canadians.
