I had never imagined travelling to another country. For me, it was just a dream. I was always the one accompanying people to the airport to say goodbye, or welcoming others when they arrived in my country. But I never thought that I would be the one leaving.
Everything started with a friend's suggestion in December 2023. He asked me, “What are you still doing in Cameroon? There are opportunities elsewhere. You have so much talent, but people here don't pay you what you are truly worth. What would you think about travelling?” I laughed at first.
Then, in 2024, I told myself why not? That is how I began taking language tests. I thought it would be an easy step, but I ended up staying a long time in the pool. My process took so much time. I told myself to focus on other activities, but one morning by the grace of God, I was selected from the pool. I started the procedure, and everything went well. That is how I found myself in Canada.
Saying goodbye to my family wasn't easy. I cried a lot because I knew I had to start from zero. I was afraid of starting over. What will happen? What will become? How are people over there? I had many questions in my mind.
Then came the day of my trip. I travelled, and it was my first time taking a plane. Surprisingly, I was not nervous at all. Everything went well. When I arrived in Canada, I passed through immigration without any problems. I had friends who were already here to welcome me.
The cold was the first shock, but I think this country is truly warm in spirit and full of opportunities. I do not regret coming here. I believe I have every chance to succeed.
