Celebration

Group of people with sugar skull makeup outdoor

Three years ago was our first Halloween in Canada. It was scary, funny and very interesting. And of course we did a lot of mistakes in preparing for this holiday. I was so excited to Halloween that I started to think about costume ideas months in advance. My older daughter wanted to be Wednesday and my youngest daughter wanted to be Elsa, of course. So I bought 2 dresses, very beautiful long blue Elsa dress and short black dress (for Wednesday girl).

Afterwards I realized how impractical this was! First the weather was windy, cold and it was raining; second - walk in long dress not comfortable and kids can trip; and thirdly, black clothes weren't visible in the evening, and I kept losing my daughter. So my advice to choose warm, comfortable, colourful or glowing in the night costume!!!

After costume problem, three years ago, we were faced with a high sugar problem after all these candies. It was a LOT of sweets in ours bags and after inside our kids. Having drawn conclusions for the next year, we agreed in advance with the children that they could keep 10 sweets from the basket for themselves, and we would buy everything else from them for 10 cents per candy. We give the candies we buy back to the children who come to us.

Overall, this holiday is quite expensive for my husband and me. But at least it's safe for their teeth. :)
