canada permanent resident card

After you land in Canada and get your permanent resident status, you have to take several steps to become eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship. First of all, you have to be 18-54 years of age and live in Canada for 3 years out of 5. Another condition is to obtain English level 4 certificate. You also need to have clear criminal record in Canada. Now, you can fill out an application form online carefully, and then check it a few times to make sure that you have given the correct address and answered all the questions. Then, you need to pay the application fee, which is approximately $650 per person. After several months, if there aren’t any problems in your application, you will receive a letter to tell you that you meet the requirements and that you can start reading Discover Canada Citizenship Guidebook. They will provide you with the book or with the website. The next step will be to study for the citizenship exam. After reading the book and answering all the questions about the history, geography, government and our legal system, you will be invited to sit for the citizenship test. If you pass the test they will call you for the ceremony and you will take the Oath of Citizenship. However, if you fail, you will repeat the test or have an interview with the judge. Finally, when you become a Canadian citizen, don’t forget to fulfill your duties of being a responsible citizen.
