Settlement

At the end of May in 2017, finally, I came to Canada, after 6 months of applying for a visa. At first, I lived in Mississauga, and then I moved to Saskatchewan one month later.

Canada has a lot of wide roads, vehicles always follow the rules; beautiful parks or rivers are really fresh and clean, etc. But my first impression was at day time, I went out at 9pm, and, wow, sunlight was still there. Walking around neighbourhood, the scene was beautiful, every house planted a lot of flowers outside. And a huge surprise came when I was walking in a park, a deer stood in front of me, in a big city. Before that I thought we can only see it in the zoo or watch it on TV, and that’s amazing.

After a few weeks of relaxing and familiarizing with life in Canada, my wife and I decided to move to Saskatchewan to settle down. Settling in another country means you have to learn everything at the beginning, such as: language, culture, registering some papers such as: healthcare, SIN number, getting a driver license and finding a job, how to work there, and it was even more difficult since my wife was pregnant at that time, with our first baby, so we did not know how to take care of a baby. A ton of new things we have to face. I really worried about it, how to overcome all these things. But my concerns went away quickly, even though there are just the two of us here, without our family by our side, hospitality of Canadians made me feel like I was at home, since they helped us step by step. Especially, when my wife was going to give birth, she was in a private room, and a nurse was always there, took care of her, all day and night, after that, they showed us how to take care of mom and the baby, they even went to my house to check and answer our concerns. And now, I’m following English program from LINC to improve my English skills. I just want to say `Thank you` to Canada, to my instructor, to everyone who helps us.

After 9 months, everything is stable now, we are really happy with it, except with the weather, my first winter is so terrible. Now, we have more confidence heading to the future.
