My name is Salim. I was born in Algiers and then moved to France at the age of 21 to complete a Master’s degree and PhD in Chemical Engineering. It was very difficult because living far away from the family required a lot of self-reliance. Thanks to my mother’s support, I completed my PhD and had the opportunity to work in a completely different domain, which was technology in a big consulting firm. The first years were hard and I learned to adapt to new situations.

In 2008, I met my wife and we got married in 2010.  My wife worked as a web-marketing analyst. We lived in Paris for 5 wonderful years before moving to Canada in 2014. The first years, we lived in Quebec City and then Montreal before moving to Toronto. It was a big challenge to adapt to a new environment and climate even further away from the family and friends. But now, we are very happy to be in Toronto and I believe that this second immigration is worth it.
