LIFE spelled out in blocks

My name is Javaria and I am from Karachi, Pakistan. I was born and raised in Pakistan where there is a strong culture of living together (joint family system). So we lived with my grandparents and four uncles with families. My childhood was full of playing with cousins and listening to stories of my grandparents at night times. I have two older sisters, two older brothers and I am the last one.

Basically there are mainly four languages used in Pakistan, which is Urdu, Punjabi, Saraiki and Pashtu. I am Urdu speaking. My father was a banker and mother is a homemaker. After secondary school, I did the Bachelors degree in Home Economics.

In Pakistan there is a culture of arranged marriages, so I married our family doctor’s nephew in 2012. His name is Fahad. I got pregnant right after my marriage and after 9 months I delivered beautiful twin boys. It was very hard to manage twins as your first children. I had another baby boy last year. My husband applied for the immigration to Canada seven years ago and he almost forgot about it when we received a letter from the immigration department in which they wanted to proceed with our application. After so many documentations we landed here 5 years ago. At the beginning it was quite a difficult time to understand the system and start a practical life. Later, we managed, but still I face a difficulty understanding or speaking English. Now I am doing the LINC Home Study program, which is really very helpful.
