I never thought of one day leaving my beloved country, and travelling to any other country. Our lives were very stable. I grew up in my country with a family, friends, work, house and everything. Suddenly, without any warning, the war broke out in Syria. My life has become almost impossible for us because there was no safety. My husband and I decided to emigrate. Because of the circumstances of the war, we could not obtain visas for any country except Ghana. I only knew that Ghana was an African country, or I did not even hear about it, but there was no choice for us.

When my feet reached the airport of Ghana, I started to cry, and I felt that my country, despite all the war, was so different from what I saw in Ghana. The airport was very modest, very hot, and there was no air conditioning, and there was no modern technology, and we had to walk and carry the luggage, without the presence of equipment to help us.

I left the airport and looked at the dirt roads, and the old houses. I knew that I will live in this house, where there was no luxury, only the walls, ceiling and windows. I continued crying, and I stayed at home for a week or more. I did not want to go out. But then I faced the reality, and I had to get out with my husband to explore the place.

When we just went out the gate of the house, a group of barefoot children with very old clothes walked behind us and started to applaud and chant something. At that moment, I did not know whether to laugh or cry. Then we completed our way, we saw a girl of about two years old, and her dad carried it in his arms. As soon as she saw my husband and me, she started to cry and scream, and started to hide her face in her father's chest. And when she looked at us, she looked more frightened. We were like ghosts to her because of the whiteness of our skin, and although we tried to give her some candy, that did not work.

In Ghana, I saw all the insects and animals of different shapes, sizes and colours, and we were exposed to many diseases such as malaria. As time passed, I became accustomed to the new situation and made many friends. They became everything in my life. I loved them so much and they loved me. They have simple pure hearts as simple as their living. They helped us in our lives. My husband and I tried to help them as much as possible in their study. And when I left Ghana I was very sad to be separated from my friends.

I spent 3 years in Ghana and despite the difficulty of living there and despite our exposure to many diseases, we were sad to leave. You will not find pure hearts like these; everything there is natural: people, fruits, charming nature and wonderful nature with very beautiful forests surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.
