Driving

learner driver with instructor giving thumb up

In 2013, I moved to the US because my husband had been working there. A few weeks later, I realized that I had to get a driver's license. Otherwise, I couldn’t go anywhere.

The written test was easy, so I passed it smoothly. However, the road test was difficult for me. First, my English was not good, so I couldn’t catch what the examiner said. Second, I was lacking in practice.

Therefore, I searched online to see what kind of orders that the examiner may use during the test. I tried my best to memorize these orders in English. Then, I drove the car with my husband every day after he was back home from work. At first, I only drove in the neighbourhood at slow speed. Then, I was encouraged to drive on the road.

I failed the test twice, but I didn’t give up. I learned from failure. Finally, I passed the test the third time. I got my driver license!
