Ballerinas in pointe position

It was a normal summer day for my best friend Tony and I. I was about the age of 7 and he was 10. It was one of those summers where all we did was work the whole summer. Tony had reminded me that I should begin on practicing my dance routine because we would be having a show that night. So I got up and began to dance. Tony watched at first then remembered he had to practice too.

The nighttime had come and our parents have just barely dropped us off at our show. This was going to be my first time up on the stage alone. It was kind of nerve-racking at first. That night there were about 20 performers. I was to be the 10th to go up. Tony was to go up before I did. When he went up on the stage he did an amazing job. Now it was my turn. They called my name up to go on stage. I was shaking in fear. It was a crowd of about 400 people. The music had begun, but I didn't move. I froze in shock. Then I came out of the stage without dancing. My dance teacher and my friends came and tried to talk to me and encouraged me. Then I came back to the stage and I did amazing and everyone applauded me.

This experience pushed me to motivate myself, to become more determined, work harder, and succeed. I felt like I am actually a very strong person, a strong person who is not afraid of anything in life. I knew that no matter what happens I will be just fine. The strength I have built up over the years has become one of the most valuable assets I have. I know I have the willpower to combat anything in life. Knowing that I am a strong person is a blessing, because the power of the mind is very powerful.
