You can make a very delicious Cuban dessert named casquitos de guayaba if you have two simple ingredients: guava and sugar. You just need to follow these steps:
- Peel two pounds of red, rinsed and trimmed guava.
- Slice in half all the guavas and scoop out all the pulp and seeds.
- Put all the guavas shells in a pot with enough water to cover it.
- Add two cups of sugar.
- Simmer over medium-low heat until the shells are tender in a perfect soft shape.
- Simmer until the liquid has the consistency of a light syrup.
- Cool down at room temperature and refrigerate after that.
- Serve cold with cream cheese and crakers or just alone.
