My name is Wendel, I am 26 years old, I am from Brazil and I recently moved to Vancouver in British Columbia. I have a degree in Marketing Advertising and a Visual Arts secondary diploma. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Advertising. I love my field of work. Although, my specialization is visual arts and I have also worked as a graphic designer, photographer and video maker for ten years. Right after my college I decided that I wanted to take a break from my routine, go to explore the world, move to a different country - in other words, learn a new language. Well, I have always been fascinated with the Irish culture and I always wondered how it would be to live in Ireland for a period. At that time, four years ago, I could never have imagined that my life would change that much like it did after the simple decision to move to a well-known Emerald Island.

Before I moved to Ireland, I started studying English by myself, simply by watching video tutorials on YouTube. I dedicated 2 hours per day, every day, for six months until I flew to Dublin and realized that learning a new language is harder than I thought it would be. In Ireland I attended an English course which finally helped with my communication. Once I have learned how to speak a little better, I got a job in a tourist agency; I made some good friends there and I also ended up getting into a relationship with a Canadian man whom I met and instantly fell in love with. Unfortunately, after 6 months of our relationship, the company where my partner was working sent him back to Canada. Since we wanted to stay together, he invited me to come to Canada and live with him. That was a very important decision for me to make, but I am very happy with the path I have chosen. I returned to Brazil to apply for my Canadian visa and sadly I got denied on my first try. After almost three years of a long-distance relationship, including several trips he made during the year to spend time with me in my hometown, I got my visa last year and I could finally move to Vancouver where we are currently living together.
