Library

Brazil and Canada have different reading cultures and habits. Both have library systems but they are not same.

Brazil is a huge country but I will focus on São Paulo. Brazil has a good library system in big cities like São Paulo. When I lived in Brazil, I used to go to the University library and after that I used to go to the Caterpillar library where I worked. They offered good library for the employees. But I visited some great and beautiful libraries in São Paulo.

The schedule includes entertainment like mother goose, plays, music, and readings in groups. They have a good website too. On the other hand, smalls cities like Iguape, where my mom lives, there is a library but there is no website and the government does not invest money. I talked with an employee and she told me that she even needs to put her money to buy new books and keep the library working. There is no website but she created a Facebook page.

In my point of view, Canada have a good Library system and you can find good libraries in big and small cities. Also, you can find movies, newspapers, entertainment like mother goose, and toys and activities for toddlers and teens.

The similarities between both library systems are free books and internet access, entertainment for the community and website or Facebook page. The differences are that Canada cares more for small-towns communities and invests more money than Brazil.
