Parenthood

mother son hugging at beach

I was married when I was only 23 years old, but I had to wait for 10 years to become a mother.  I have a fourteen-year-old son, and his name is Gia Hy, which means the hope of the family. My family moved to Canada because of our son. We hope that our son will have a better future here.

Hy is very intelligent, so he usually scores 100% in math tests. He likes sports, and he can play well many sports, such as badminton, volleyball, ping pong, and basketball. He is especially good at soccer. He has played soccer since he was 5 years old. He played soccer every day when we lived in Vietnam, and he also won a few championships. When we moved to Canada, he was very sad because he couldn’t play soccer every day as in our country.

He has learned a lot about nutrition, and he wants to become a nutrition expert. He always asks me to cook healthy food because he doesn’t like eating sugar or fat. He never eats chicken meat because when he was a kid, he saw his father take care of chicks, so he loved them. He said I was very evil because I ate chicken.

My son is my life. I have to work very hard every day, but when I return home and hug him, I feel like all of the fatigue is gone.
