Seasonal

My favourite season is summer back home in Eritrea. Summers are cool with the right amount of sunshine that made playing outside as a kid really enjoyable. During the summer months, all kids have school off and are free to play outdoor games. I remember playing hide and seek, soccer, and basketball. I also used to love playing marbles which we called ‘Ballina' in my language. “Tembo” was another game loved by both girls and boys, and I think it's a unique game in our country. It's similar to the game of tag. You have two people at two ends and everyone else in between them. They pass the ball to each other while trying to tag or hit those in the middle. Everyone is running from end to end trying to avoid getting hit by the ball, and the excitement in that game is one of my best childhood memories.

As I got older, I only played basketball from time to time but now that I am in Iqaluit I don't have enough time to play anything. It's cold year - round in Iqaluit, and everyone has to stay indoors so all I do most of the time is go to work and just chill at home. Sometimes, I go to visit and chill at my friend’s house especially during holidays because we all get together and share meals. I also recently started going to the gym. In general, I love summer weather because you can enjoy being outdoors.
