Seasonal

Saskatchewan summers are very dynamic especially when talking about weather changes. Sometimes, the temperature can rise and fall dramatically. It can be really hot during the day and as the sun goes down it feels very cool in the evening. Here are some activities we usually love to do during summer.

First, we really like gardening. We spend most of our time outdoors planting flowers and different kinds of vegetables such as, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, beans and peas. Landscaping is one of my hidden talents. After a long winter, it is great to be outside growing our own food.

Next, camping is one of my husband’s and my favourite thing to do. Specifically, we have a motorhome and it feels like our second home every time we go camping. It’s like a house on wheels. You can cook, wash dishes, shower, sleep and use the facilities all in one place. Normally, every morning we can hear the birds chirping, rustling leaves of trees and a cool breeze of air. These sounds remind me that to go for a morning walk or bike ride would be a good thing to do. Another typical thing about camping is campfires. Everybody loves to sit around the fire socializing and telling stories.

Another great summer activity is boating, and the best part of boating, is tubing. When the waves are high it makes the tube bounce up and it is exciting. Despite the fact that I can’t swim, I still love swimming and I’m fearless when it comes to tubing. We enjoy boating because you can sit down under the heat of the sun and relax. It is the best way to unwind and get together with our family and friends. At the same time, we can go fishing while boating, but make sure you have a fishing license before doing anything because it is illegal in all provinces to fish without one. Most of the time, I find fishing more challenging because some days fish are easy to catch and some days they aren't.

Overall, summer can be great fun in Saskatchewan. Being outside in the garden, camping away from home or even fishing can make your summer very exciting. Travelling to camp is a fun way to get to see your family and friends once in a while. In a nutshell, summer may be short, but make sure you enjoy it by doing a lot of fun activities.
