Bios

I am from Syria and I came to Canada with my husband and two kids. Reem is my daughter, 8 years old and Jamal is my son, 6 years old. We have been in Canada since the 9th of November, 2016. We are living now in a small town called Gananoque, Ontario, which is near the St. Lawrence River. The weather is so beautiful, especially in the summer, although it's too cold in the winter, especially this past year.

We like this town because it's similar to our town in Syria, called Al Mazraa. Al Mazraa is smaller in land and bigger in population. The buildings there are lower in height than in Gananoque, but there are no traffic lights or banks. There are more schools and stores back home and each store specializes in one thing like clothes, shoes and groceries.

The people in Gananoque are so lovely and friendly, so we decided to stay in this town and make our business here. We are hoping to open a Syrian restaurant. We have had great success cooking our food for the local market and people have told us that we should open a restaurant. So we are! We are very happy to be in Canada.
