biography text

I’m a mom of two children. My daughter is four years old and my baby is 11 months old. I come from a big family; I have three brothers and two sisters, one of them living in Texas and the others in Veracruz, Mexico which is my hometown.

In Mexico I’m studied International Business and Customs and that’s why I would like to improve my English, to get back to that field. I would like to take a course at Cambrian College or apply for to a job in that area, but I don’t feel my English is good enough for that level yet.

I work at the Ukrainian Seniors Centre. I’m on maternity leave until this week, but I will not be back to work soon now because of COVID-19. I work as a dietary aid.

My husband and I came from Mexico. We have nine years of marriage this year and six of them living here in Canada. Before coming to Canada, we were living in France where I learned French. When I came to Canada, I did not speak English. It was hard to understand. In high school I had English class but basic, so I understand basics things when people are talking. In my first year here in Sudbury, someone told me about a French center where they were giving English classes and I went there to learn. That helped me a lot to listen and speak. We did not practice grammar, so for me writing is still difficult. It’s something I don’t practice.

We came to Canada because of a job opportunity for my husband. We decided we would like to know the country because we had always heard good things about Canada. I also wanted to learn English, so we moved to Canada and decided to stay here because we love it. We love the people. They are friendly and there are a lot of kind people here. We love nature, we feel safe, peaceful and happy here. It is a perfect place to start our family, so we did.
