water and trees in algonquin park

On July 14, 2020 I had planned to do a day trip with my family and discover some new places in this beautiful country. I had in mind to go to look for a place where it was possible to ride bicycles with my wife and son. After having experienced the Muskoka region on a previous trip north, I thought it would be a really nice opportunity to show that area to my wife and son.

I prepared my car the night before so I would be ready for the next day and we could leave the house early. I loaded all the things necessary to spend a day in the middle of nature. We woke up around 5:30 am and we started our journey directed to the North. My son and my wife were still asleep and so while I was driving, I thought to myself that maybe I could drive half an hour further and visit a new place called Algonquin Park. When my wife woke up, I immediately spoke to her and asked if she agreed to extend our driving for half an hour more. She agreed, so we decided to set a new destination for a different place.

As soon as we arrived in the park and we took Highway 60 in the hope of coming across a moose. Unfortunately, maybe because the day was too hot, we were not so lucky. Out first stop was to Oxtongue River where we visited the rapids. After hearing the loud noise from the water falling between the rocks, we saw such beautiful landscape. The green of those plants and the colour of the water was amazing. It was also very impressive to see the power of the water all surrounded by a surreal silence. Then we decided to go a little further into Algonquin Park and visit Canoe Lake, which is a lake where there is the possibility of renting canoes. So we decided to rent one and have this new experience. It was a sensational thing, we were also able to stop on an island and have a picnic. My son was really happy and excited to be able to row in the canoe. I think it is very nice for him to have had such a beautiful experience at only 5 years of age.

I hope we will have another opportunity to discover Algonquin Park better in the future. Maybe we will be able to spend a few days in order to have more time to look around. After that beautiful day I realized again what it is like to live in a great beautiful country. Thanks Canada for giving us these experiences!
