Parenthood

mom and daughter holding hands

Being a mom is a wonderful feeling, something different than anything you can imagine. Sami was my first child. l delivered him in Regina and it was a very hard time for me because it was an unplanned Caesarean section. My husband and I went through difficult days, but with patience and prayers everything ended and we were happy.

Raising kids in Chad is more easy-going than Canada because I would have family and friends to watch the kids and take care of them if I'm not feeling good or sick, but life here is more difficult. Our lives and our priorities are for our kids and how we can lead them and raise them to be responsible people in their lives and the community.

My son is very smart and kind. One time we were at the park and he knows that I'm scared of dogs, so he said, “Mom look it's cute puppy. l know you are not comfortable to be close, but don't worry I'm here!!” I was so proud of him and his support meant a lot to me. That day was the first time in my life I touched a dog.

My grandmother always said be to your kid and they will be a great person. So, that is what I do. It is not about us, it’s all for them.
