panna cotta

Panna cotta, which means “cooked cream” in Italian, includes very few ingredients and is easy to cook. I always cook it with my son.

Before you start, you need to prepare 200ml of whole milk (3.25%), 200ml of whipped cream (35%), 10g of powdered gelatin, 30g of sugar and 1 drop of pure vanilla extract.

First, I mix the powdered gelatin with some cold water. In the meantime, I prepare my cream mixture by heating the milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla extract together in a saucepan until hot and the sugar is dissolved. Once hot, I add the gelatin and immediately whisk until smooth. Make sure there are no little crystals remaining. After all that, pour the mixture into mini individual cups or ramekins and then put it in the freezer for three hours.

Before I eat the panna cotta, I like to put a topping on the panna cotta. I usually put jam I made, like strawberry jam, mango jam and passion fruit jam. Also, I put fresh fruit on the top. Some people like to put caramel sauce or chocolate ganache, but I prefer fruits with sweet and sour that make the panna cotta lighter.
