Canada

Today, I would like to talk about what I like about Canadians.

Canadians have a reputation for being friendly and easy to talk to. Canada is a country where people of different ethnicities, faces and religions live together. Perhaps that’s why Canadians are more understanding, embracing and respectful of each other. We always have the chance for friends from different countries to gather and have discussions. Canadians tend to actively participate in the conversation while listening to other people's opinions. They are never aggressive or rude, nor too shy, having the perfect manner for conversation. In addition, if someone who is not familiar with English speaks, they listen with patience, try hard to guess, and try to give an appropriate answer.

Canadians work hard and take work seriously, but at the same time, they believe that a work-life balance is very important. If the boss asks you to have dinner together after work, most Koreans or/and Chinese might say yes, even if they do not want it. But you can not expect that to happen in Canada. Before you can worry about it, you see your boss is already ready to go home. It is everyone's dream to live a life where individual time is respected. And to live this ideal life is one of the reasons why a lot of people want to move to Canada.

Canadians enjoy helping others. They are sometimes too polite and respect other people’s lives too much to intervene in some situations. But once you ask for help, they love to help you through to the end. Since I moved to Canada, I have been thrilled by so much help from Canadians.

There is so much to talk about, but the first thing that comes to my mind is our wedding. The catering company canceled the contract due to COVID-19, and it was too late to hire another company or book a restaurant for our wedding. When we felt helpless, two women who had heard of this situation through one of our family members gladly contacted us to arrange a fantastic wedding dinner.

Great people make great countries. I believe Canada will become an even more prosperous and respected country with these great people.
