There are lots of movies or books which come to my mind that I want to discuss, but the most influential movie on my life is "Kabhi Khushi Kabi Gham." This translates loosely to: ‘Sometimes happiness and sometimes sorrows. It is an Indian movie that I originally saw when I was 18 years old. The story revolves around a family of a mom, dad and 2 sons-the first son was adopted and the second was their own. They loved, respected, and took care of each other. Time passes and they both grow up. One son falls in love with a girl who was simple and poor, but his father wanted a daughter-in-law who was smart, stylish, and rich. This conflict raged like a war between father and son. After some time, the son did defy the father’s wishes and married his lover. They moved abroad and settled there. It was clear that the father missed his son, but his ego would not let him apologize or reach out. The younger brother knew everything that had happened, and he also knew that his parents missed his brother very much. So, one day he decided to go to find his brother. He lived with his brother as a paying guest overseas, and then he came to know how much his brother missed his family. At this point, the peace-maker brother was able to arrange a ‘chance’ meeting between his father and his brother. Of course, when son and father were in front of each other, they forget everything. They just want to hug each other and forgive. The parents decided to move abroad to live with that son, their daughter-in-law, and their grandchildren. This showed me that you shouldn’t not waste time being angry at someone you love. Time is the one thing we can’t get back.
