about me handwritten on blackboard

My name is Ruaa. I'm from Iraq. I lived and studied in Baghdad. I graduated from Baghdad University, College of Education, Geography department in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree. After that I worked as a geography teacher for one year, but I left this job to find another one because I preferred that and I worked as a secretary in a computer company. A few years later, my parents, my brother and I decided to travel and we lived in Turkey (Kutahya) for four years. There I learned a little Turkish and I found a job in a café. We registered as immigrants for Canada and they accepted us and finally we came and started to live in Mississauga, ON in January 2019.

My main immigration goal is to get Canadian citizenship. Later I will think more about my life. I might study for a diploma. When I first came to Canada, I registered with the Access Employment office in two programs (Construction Trades and Entrepreneurship) to find a job and I got a certification in both of them. I was lucky and got a job at Amazon and have been working in the packaging position full-time four days a week since Sep 2019.

I like breathing in the cool evening air and watching the different colours glow at the sunsets. Jogging calms and relaxes me and gets me ready to face a new day full of energy. I also enjoy cooking. I especially relish the challenge of learning a new recipe and trying it out.

I like Canada because you find peace, respect and rights for everyone here.

The quote I like and try to follow: While we wait for good things to happen for ourselves, we can do good things for other people.
