My Story text on orange background

My name is Eid and I was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. We used to live on a farm where I spent my childhood playing amongst trees and animals. However, that carefree time went so fast and I woke up one day to see myself a full grown man who needs to thrive in life, so I did everything I could to enjoy life and dream of big adventures from traveling to learning new knowledge at university.

After graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Commerce, with major in Accounting, I worked in banks, pharmaceutical industry, and with NPOs. In 2011, all of a sudden, the crisis had started in Syria and brought a civil war to the most beautiful country in the world. As a Christian minority, we couldn't live there any more so we decided to move to Lebanon, the neighboring country. However, this was a temporary solution and from there we decided to immigrate to Canada because I couldn't see any hope or future in Syria for my family, especially for my two little boys, who were too young to live under shells and mortars every single day in their life.

Now, we've been here in Canada for two years enjoying the peace and freedom we were looking for, and praying for all the people in need to have the same peace that we have. I'm working with an accounting firm, and my wife is looking after our little kids until they reach school age. I'm full of hope that the future holds a brighter path full of new opportunities, and I am grateful to Canadian government and people for welcoming us here and giving us a chance to integrate with the community very easily. Thank you!
