Canada

Waterfront at Canada Place, Vancouver, BC, Canada

I went to Vancouver with my family. It is an exciting and beautiful city in British Columbia, surrounded by the sea and mountains, a combination that makes it a special place for tourism. We stayed at the Sandman Hotel located downtown, closer to the Public Library, with architecture that looked similar to the Roman Coliseum.

We just went for a week and tried to visit the most important places and landmarks. One of them was Canada Place which is iconic because it is located at the harbourfront. The view is beautiful and, on the floor, the names of all the provinces and territories with their most important cities are engraved. Another landmark is the Steam Clock. It is a cute antique and every 30 minutes, it makes a classical musical sound and spreads steam and water around. The experience at the Suspension Bridge was out of this world. It is a combination of nature and rustic lifestyle.

We also visited Vancouver Island. To get there, we took a ferry which was so exciting and relaxing. The wind touched my hair and the sound of the waves made me feel happy. One day we decided to go to the north. Our first stop was at the Britannia Mine Museum, a site of rich history for Squamish (a small town near Vancouver). We had a great time together in the museum, hunting small exotic gemstones such as agate, amethyst, pyrite, quartz and gold. The tour guide showed us how hard the miners worked in the past underground in dark tunnels with rustic tools. In my culture, we call this “The fiber of the gold".

When the tour was over, we went to Squamish to find something to eat and found the most delicious, cheap Sushi Restaurant I have ever been to. The last stop that day was at Whistler, one of the most famous and largest ski resorts where the 2010 Olympics Games took place. The architecture was gorgeous, chalet style, like a village.

We had a great, memorable time together. The funny thing is we took around 450 photos and we are going to meet on Labour Day, for a BBQ, grab a couple of two-fours and look at all the photos together.
