Keerimalai, Sri Lanka - February 5, 2015: Sri Lankan swimmers enjoy the Keerimalai Hot Springs, a to

My mother land is Sri Lanka. It's an island country in South Asia. Located in the Indian Ocean southwest of the bay of Bengal and southeast of the Arabian Sea.

I was born in the city of Jaffna. I realized there are many things I really love about my country and I’m missing things too.

The first thing I’m missing is the weather. My country's climate can be described as tropical and quite hot. Temperatures are averaging 28 degrees. The second main thing is my family and friends. Specially my sister's family and my husband. When I left my country, my sister gave birth to a baby boy, he is only a 6 months baby. I need to tell you about my sister. She is very talented at cooking. I miss her foods so badly.

Normally my country is special for fresh food. Mostly I miss the fresh food. My city of Jaffna is often described as a seafood heaven. We can buy all types of fresh seafood in the market every day. Fishermen go fishing at midnight and they all come back from fishing before sunrise. My father always went to the market every day in the morning and he prepared for us fresh fish curry and rice. We came from school and we always enjoyed the food.

And what I miss most about my country is the "nature". There are a lot of amazing places, beaches, many waterfalls, botanical gardens, zoological gardens, mountains, beautiful rivers, historical places and famous temples. We used to go to beach every evening. I always loved to see the sunset. It's an amazing view. I miss those days.

During my school days I visited all the places in my country.

One of the most important things that I miss are the temples. I’m Hindu. In my city there are many temples around us. During the month of August it’s our temple's festival called Kme. Everyone is going together. We all pray. The festival takes place for 25 days. I really miss those wonderful Kmes.
