People at the Mercato Market of Addis Ababa, 31 October 2012

Addis Ababa and Asmara are cities with very few similarities and a lot of differences. In both countries, we have the same traditional foods. These foods include injera, Doro Wet, Shiro and a lot of others. People in Asmara and Addis Ababa also share the same clothing styles and have similar alphabets.

When it comes to architecture, Addis Ababa is more developed than Asmara. It is also the same with tourism. It tries to make buildings more modern but keeps tradition. This kind of architecture is called Aksumite. Tourism is a big thing in Addis Ababa. It is home to some of the most beautiful tourist attractions. There are many beautiful churches and museums, and people come from far away just to visit the places there.

Entertainment in both cities is the same. Dancing, game shows and dramas are all their source of entertainment. Affordability is not something you will find in Asmara; it is more expensive compared to Addis Ababa. House rent is more expensive in Asmara than it is in Addis Ababa.

Education and friendliness are very good in Addis Ababa. It may come with its problems like safety, but Ethiopians are strong enough to overcome them. Asmara is also improving a lot in healthcare.
