Traditional arab mint tea in a traditional cup with mint leaves

Moroccan tea is a famous traditional drink made with green tea with fresh mint. Every house has a special teapot that is silver or in gold color. It is served on a special tray where we place the teapot with tea in special glasses. You can drink tea anytime in the day and at night, you can serve it with sweets, cookies or nuts. It is the first drink we give when we have guests.

Ingredients:

  • Makes 3 servings
  •  3 cups of warm water
  • 1 tsp of green tea
  • 2 tbsps. of sugar or to your taste
  • 1 bunch of fresh mint

Step 1

Firstly, put the green tea in a teapot and boil with a little bit of warm water, then leave it for 2 minutes and after discard the water of the teapot so the tea will not be so bitter.

Step 2

Secondly, add a bunch of freshly washed mint, with 3 cups of boiling water to the teapot to simmer the leaves again. Thirdly, put sugar in the pot (to taste) and let it simmer for 4 minutes again. Now, serve the green tea in small heatproof glasses.

Enjoy Chay Maghrebi or Moroccan Tea!
