Two canoes at the lakeshore with a beautiful sunrise in the horizon

Last Sunday, my daughter and I went were invited at to an outdoor recreation event at Fairbank Ontario Park. This is a small, but popular park, and has been a choice destination since 1958.

My friend cooked a barbeque. After that, we went to the beach and rented two canoes. When was my turn, we got in the canoe and we started to row. I could not explain, but it soon started to get very windy, and the wind carried us to the middle to the lake. At some point, I was tired, and I told my daughter,

“Don’t worry Luna, we will go where the wind will carry us.”

Yes, the wind carried us to the other side of the lake. I tried to stop where there was a house. I told Luna to grab the tree. I got off and I helped Luna get off. I took the canoe and I put it on the land. We went to knock on the door of the house, but nobody answered. We went to the other house, but nobody was there.

We returned to the dock, and we waited there. Luna told me, “Mami, Mami! A boat is coming!” but they passed by too quickly and they could not see us. So, I took the whistle and I started to blow the whistle, but they could not see us.

When we saw it again, we started to jump and wave our arms. We wanted that they see us. Finally, they rescued us, and carried us to the beach again. I saw my friends very worried for us. I felt good when I saw my friends.

I want to say thanks to my friends for calling 911, for we returned healthy and safe; thanks to my daughter for being brave; and thanks to God.
