My favorite holiday is New Year's Day. New Year's Day is one of the biggest holidays in Japan. We celebrate New Year's Day, gather with family, go to a temple to pray, eat traditional food and there are so many things to do.

I love to eat any food, especially Japanese food.

New Year's traditional Japanese food has meaning individually. For example, we eat boiled shrimp. The meaning is the wish to live long until our backs are bent like a shrimp. Boiled shrimp is just one of the dishes. It is a lot of work to make New Year's traditional Japanese food for mothers. Therefore, I help her with the cooking. I also like spending time and cooking with her too.

I was in Canada this New Year's Day. I cooked a few traditional foods and sent a picture of it to my family. My hope is that I spend time with my family next New Year's Day and eat a lot of traditional foods.
