Here is some vocabulary from this edition. Do you know what the words mean?

abundant
available in large quantities so that there is more than enough

bangle
a solid band of gold, silver etc that you wear loosely around your wrist as jewellery

betterment
improvement, especially in someone’s social and economic position

chill
relax completely instead of feeling angry, tired, or nervous

congested
full of traffic

contentious
causing a lot of argument and disagreement between people

crux
the decisive or most important point at issue.

detrimental
causing harm or damage

disheartened
disappointed, so that you lose hope and the determination to continue doing something

emigrate
to leave your own country in order to live in another country

invigorating
making you feel healthy and giving you a lot of energy

marmot
a small European or American animal with fur and short front legs which lives under the ground

nomadic
travel from place to place, not living in any one place for very long

novice
someone who has no experience in a skill, subject, or activity

oath
a formal and very serious promise

obsolete
no longer useful, because something newer and better has been invented

popularize
to make something well known and liked

resilience
the ability to become strong, happy, or successful again after a difficult situation or event

solace
a feeling of emotional comfort at a time of great sadness or disappointment

tournament
a competition in which players compete against each other in a series of games until there is one winner

unwind
to relax and stop feeling anxious

vigilant
giving careful attention to what is happening, so that you will notice any danger or illegal activity

wane
when something such as power, influence, or a feeling becomes gradually less strong or less important

willpower
the ability to control your mind and body in order to achieve something that you want to do

wok
a wide pan shaped like a bowl, used in Chinese cooking
