Here is some vocabulary from this edition. Do you know what the words mean?

alluring
a mysterious, exciting, or desirable quality

audit
(v) to officially examine a company’s financial records in order to check that they are correct

bail
money left with a court of law to make sure that a prisoner will return when their trial starts

beautician
someone whose job is to give beauty treatments to your skin, hair etc

Bollywood
the Indian film industry

boost
to increase or improve something and make it more successful

budget
the money that is available to an organization or person, or a plan of how it will be spent

buffet
a meal at a party or other occasion, in which people serve themselves at a table and then move away to eat

competent
having enough skill or knowledge to do something to a satisfactory standard

corruption
dishonest, illegal, or immoral behaviour, especially from someone with power

coupe
a car with two doors and a sloping back

cozy
a place that is cosy is small, comfortable, and warm

crew
a group of people working together with special skills

dumbfounded
extremely surprised

frostbite
a condition caused by extreme cold, that makes your fingers and toes swell, become darker, and sometimes fall off

hospitable
friendly, welcoming, and generous to visitors

imperative
extremely important and needing to be done or dealt with immediately

introspection
the process of thinking deeply about your own thoughts, feelings, or behaviour

lookout
a place for a lookout to watch from

myriad
very many

pivotal
more important than anything else in a situation, system etc

posthumous
happening after someone’s death

segregation
when people of different races, sexes, or religions are kept apart so that they live, work, or study separately

verify
to discover whether something is correct or true

villainous
evil or criminal
