Here is some vocabulary from this edition. Do you know what the words mean?


apprentice
to work for an employer for a fixed period of time in order to learn a particular skill or job

armoured
having an outside layer made of metal to protect them from attack

ballad
a slow love song

boost
to increase or improve something and make it more successful

bountiful
when there is more than enough of something

concise
short, with no unnecessary words

convoy
a group of vehicles or ships travelling together, sometimes in order to protect one another

cozy
small, comfortable, and warm

delinquent
a person who behaves in a way that is illegal or that society does not approve of

dementia
an illness that affects the brain and memory, and makes you gradually lose the ability to think and behave normally

foliage
the leaves of a plant

forecast
a description of what is likely to happen in the future, based on the information that you have now

frugality
to be careful to buy only what is necessary

hoodie
a loose jacket or top made of soft material, which has a hood

hospitable
friendly, welcoming, and generous to visitors

impractical
not sensible or possible for practical reasons

instinct
a natural tendency to behave in a particular way or a natural ability to know something, which is not learned

miniature
much smaller than normal

minimalist
a style of art, design, life etc. that uses only a very few simple ideas or things

obedient
always doing what you are told to do, or what the law, a rule etc says you must do

pessimistic
expecting that bad things will happen in the future or that something will have a bad result

prenatal
relating to unborn babies and the care of pregnant women

rural
happening in or relating to the countryside, not the city

surreal
a situation or experience that is surreal is very strange and difficult to understand, like something from a dream
